Matching the Method to the Job
We run four blasting methods because no single one is right for every surface. Push too hard and you warp panels, etch masonry, or blow through thin aluminum. Go too gentle and the coating never keys in and starts lifting inside a year. Choosing correctly is most of the job, and it happens before any media moves.
Sandblasting is the aggressive option — dry, fast, and the right call for heavy mill scale, thick rust, and structural steel where a deep anchor profile is wanted. It throws dust, so it belongs in controlled conditions. Dustless blasting injects water at the nozzle to knock that dust down, which is what makes it workable on occupied commercial property, outdoors, and anywhere airborne particulate is the constraint rather than the substrate.
Dry ice blasting uses no abrasive at all. The pellets sublimate on impact, so the only thing left to clean up is the coating that came off — no spent media in the machinery, no grit in a food or electrical environment, and no cutting into historic brick or soft metal. Shot blasting recycles steel media in a contained system to put a consistent, repeatable profile on parts and flat work, which is what you want when the finish has to look uniform across a batch.
Past the blasting itself, we coat what we strip, run powder coating in a 30ft oven at the shop, handle welding repair when the metal needs work before finishing, and sell abrasive media to crews running their own equipment.
What “We Run the Rig” Actually Means
A lot of surface prep gets quoted by one company and performed by another. That is where jobs go sideways — the scope drifts between the estimate and the crew, nobody on site has authority to make a call when the substrate turns out worse than expected, and the schedule depends on somebody else’s backlog.
We do not subcontract. The people who quote your job are the people who show up, run the equipment, and are still there when it is time to coat. If the rust is deeper than the photos suggested, that gets sorted on site rather than through three phone calls. And because blasting and coating are the same crew on the same visit, bare metal gets protected before it has a chance to flash rust — which is the single most common way a good blast job gets wasted.
