What to Expect When You Hire a Mobile Blasting Crew

McConnell Sandblasting mobile blasting rig and trailer ready for a jobsite call

If you’ve never worked with a mobile blasting crew before, it’s natural to have questions about how the process actually works. Here’s a straightforward walkthrough of what happens from the first call to the finished job.

1. Tell Us About the Job

It starts with a conversation — what needs to be blasted, roughly how big the job is, where it’s located, and any constraints on site (occupied buildings nearby, timeline, access for equipment). This is enough for us to recommend a method and give you a realistic quote.

The more detail you can give us upfront — photos, dimensions, whether coating is part of the scope — the more accurate that first quote will be, and the fewer surprises on the day of the job.

2. We Bring the Rig to You

That’s the whole point of being mobile — you don’t haul equipment to a shop or wait in line. We show up with everything needed for the job, whether that’s a single trailer or a full setup for an industrial site.

We’ll confirm access requirements ahead of time — gate codes, parking for the rig, power if needed — so there’s no wasted time on arrival.

3. Site Setup and Protection

Before any blasting starts, we set up to protect what shouldn’t be blasted — windows, landscaping, adjacent equipment, vehicles. If dust control matters for your site, this is also where we’d confirm dustless blasting is the right call.

For jobs near occupied buildings, we’ll also talk through timing — some facilities prefer blasting during off-hours or weekends to minimize disruption.

4. The Blasting Itself

We match abrasive media and pressure to your specific substrate, so you get a clean, consistent profile without damaging the base material. For bigger jobs, this can take anywhere from a few hours to multiple days.

We’ll check in periodically on multi-day jobs so you always know where things stand and whether the timeline is holding.

5. Cleanup and Walkthrough

Once blasting is done, we clean up spent media and do a walkthrough with you before we leave. If coating is part of the job, we can move straight into primer and topcoat while the surface profile is still fresh.

You’ll get a clear look at the finished surface and a chance to flag anything before we consider the job complete.

What About Payment and Scheduling?

We’ll walk through pricing and scheduling specifics when we quote your job — every project is different depending on size, method, and site access. The goal is no surprises: what we quote is what you pay, barring any scope changes we’d discuss with you first.

No Subcontracting, No Surprises

The crew that shows up is the crew that does the work — start to finish, one team accountable for the whole job. If you’re ready to get a project scheduled, reach out and we’ll walk you through the specifics for your site.
